AMNESTY TENURE NOTE

Amnesty International was unable to find a state media report announcing the exact date when Mohammad Alizamani was appointed as the commander of the FARAJA Special Cohorts of Kurdistan province. A human rights group has identified the date as August 2019. This is consistent with a state media report indicating that Mohammad Ali Zamani was removed from his previous position as the commander of the FARAJA Special Cohorts of Ilam province in August 2019. State media reports confirm that he held this position until October 2023. Akbar Abbasi was subsequently appointed as the new commander of the FARAJA Special Cohorts of Kurdistan province. A post published by a state-affiliated Instagram account on 13 November 2024 indicates that Mohammad Alizamani was later appointed as the commander of the FARAJA Special Cohorts of Greater Tehran. He retained this position as of 2026.

IMMEDIATE SUCCESSOR

Akbar Abbasi. Amnesty names only the person who immediately followed the 2022 holder — later successors are omitted, and successors are not themselves on the 87 unless they also held a listed 2022 seat.
