AMNESTY TENURE NOTE

Mohammad Nazar Azimi was appointed as the commander of the IRGC’s regional Najaf Ashraf Headquarters in November 2013. He retained this position until November 2025, when he was replaced by Mohsen Karimi. State media reports indicate that Mohammad Nazar Azimi was subsequently appointed as the coordination deputy of the Central Imam Hossein Headquarters. Amnesty International was unable to find a state media report announcing the exact date when he was appointed to this role. However, state media reports indicate that he held this position as of December 2025. He retained this position as of 2026.

Mohsen Karimi. Amnesty names only the person who immediately followed the 2022 holder — later successors are omitted, and successors are not themselves on the 87 unless they also held a listed 2022 seat.
