AMNESTY TENURE NOTE
Hossein Salami was appointed as the general commander of the IRGC by the Supreme Leader in April 2019. He remained in this position until 13 June 2025, when he was killed in Tehran by an Israeli air strike. Mohammad Pakpour was subsequently appointed as the new general commander of the IRGC. After Mohammad Pakpour was killed on 28 February 2026 by an air strike carried out during the US-Israeli military attack against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ahmad Vahidi succeeded him as the general commander of the IRGC.
