AMNESTY TENURE NOTE

Ali Khamenei was appointed as the Supreme Leader by the Assembly of Experts in June 1989. He remained in this position until 28 February 2026, when he was killed in Tehran by an air strike carried out during the US-Israeli military attack against the Islamic Republic of Iran. His son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was subsequently appointed as the new commander-in-chief and Supreme Leader.

LATER POSTS (AS RECORDED)

His son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was subsequently appointed as the new commander-in-chief and Supreme Leader.
